Submerging the Sunshine is a project produced by undergraduate students in fulfillment of the Spring 2016 Visual Storytelling course held by the Florida International University's Department of Journalism + Media in collaboration with eyesontherise.org.

This site consists of digital exhibits, curated by the students, related to sea level rise in South Florida. The exhibits include the research and scholarly output of the university, highlighting the work done by FIU faculty, students and staff.

In addition to learning the power of visual storytelling, students created this project to enhance the Digital Common's Sea Level Rise Collection with tools to engage audiences with the content and issues related to our changing environments.

This class project at Florida International University was made possible by the support of the university's following groups:

  • FIU Libraries
    • Digital Collections Center
    • GIS Center
    • Digital Scholars Lab
  • College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts
